About Dr. Telles, MD

Dr. Telles's remarkable journey in the medical field spans over two decades,

encompassing a diverse range of experiences and accomplishments. After

serving honorably for 6-years in the US Navy as a hospital corpsman, known

as a "medic," Dr. Telles established a strong foundation of compassion and

expertise in caring for the health and well-being of his fellow soldiers and

sailors. His service in the Navy instilled in him a profound sense of duty and

commitment to excellence.

 

Following his distinguished service, Dr. Telles pursued his undergraduate

degree, and driven by his passion for patient care, he subsequently

pursued a Physician Assistant (PA) degree from Howard University in

Washington DC. Howard University provided him with a clinical foundation and

practice preparing him to excel in medicine.

 

Dr. Telles then returned to Suburban Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine,

where he previously worked as a surgical technologist (CST), and served as a Physician Assistant specializing in neurosurgery, orthopedics, and trauma surgery. This invaluable experience allowed him to work alongside many great surgeons and gain insights into complex surgical procedures. Dr. Telles was part of essential support to the surgical teams and helped ensure optimal patient outcomes.

 

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and pursuit of excellence, Dr. Telles took on the next phase of his medical journey. He pursued and successfully obtained his M.D. from Saba University School of Medicine. This provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of medical practice, further solidifying his commitment to delivering exceptional care.


Dr. Telles then pursued a Residency in Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. During his residency, his exemplary clinical skills and dedication were acknowledged, and he was honored with the student-teacher award. This recognition served as a testament to his unwavering commitment to both patient care and education.

 

Driven to make a difference in the field of pain management, Dr. Telles embarked on an Interventional Pain Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. This fellowship offered him specialized training in advanced pain management techniques and innovative approaches. He trained alongside pioneers in the field and gained a broad understanding while working with pain physicians from various disciplines, including anesthesiologists, physiatrists, neurologists, and psychiatrists. Through his dedication and attention to detail, Dr. Telles honed his skills in diagnosing and treating various pain conditions, ensuring the highest level of patient comfort and well-being.

 

Today, Dr. Telles is s a highly accomplished medical professional, with a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and a deep-rooted passion for enhancing the lives of his patients. His extensive experience in military medicine, coupled with his exceptional academic and professional achievements, has positioned him as an example of excellence within the medical community. Dr. Telles’s unwavering commitment to patient care, coupled with his relentless pursuit of medical advancements, continues to inspire and transform lives, making him a true asset to the field of medicine. Dr. Telles can now be found at his new practice, the "Capitol Pain & Wellness Center," a physician and veteran-owned company, located in Howard and PG County.
